Community Dental Health Promoter (Muscle Shoals, AL)
Full Time. Requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Public Health, any Health Sciences, or a closely related field. Must have demonstrated knowledge of oral health practices and developing educational materials. Knowledge can be gained through college-level education, certification, and/or experience.
Plan and develop oral health programs for the community, including developing public service announcements and oral health education programs. Participate in efforts to improve access to dental care services for low-income residents, Thrive Alabama patients (inclusive healthcare) and military service veterans. Monitor program expenditures, including finding affordable vendors. Collect data regarding rates of dental disease, services performed, fluoridation levels and plan activities in response to demonstrated need. Develop patient friendly plaque control programs to be implemented in the dental practice. Work with school administrators, teachers, parent-teacher organizations, parents and volunteers to implement and continue fluoride mouth rinse programs, brushing techniques and other oral hygiene practices. Maintain updated patient records with plans, notes, appropriates forms or related information.
